Cavaliers Working To Move Antawn Jamison to Nets in Sign-And-Trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers may be looking to move Antawn Jamison to Brooklyn, a move that could help bolster the Nets frontcourt following the re-signing of center Brook Lopez.

Presswire

With negotiations on a deal to bring Dwight Howard to Brooklyn suspended for the foreseeable future, the Nets are looking at alternatives to improve their front line and potentially compliment just re-signed center Brook Lopez.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears, the Cleveland Cavaliers are in preliminary talks to a sign-and-trade deal that would move forward Antawn Jamison to the Nets.

Spears added other possible destinations for the 14-year veteran include the Charlotte Bobcats -- for what it's worth, Jamison played his high school ball in Charlotte and starred as a Tar Heel at UNC -- as well as the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, with whom he spent his first five seasons in the NBA.

With the Nets reportedly re-signing Lopez to a four-year, $61 million deal on Wednesday -- a move that all but ends their attempts to acquire Howard from the Orlando Magic (for the time being, at least) -- Jamison would provide frontcourt depth and add some scoring and rebounding to an increasingly formidable roster that includes re-signed point guard Deron Williams and small forward Gerald Wallace, as well as recently acquired All-Star guard Joe Johnson.
