Kyrie Irving's broken hand is the sort of injury to the star of a franchise that can give fans a heart attack. If what the Cavs told Yahoo!'s Marc J. Spears is true, it was also the result of a really silly move on Irving's part.

I’ve hit my own hand on gym wall padding (who that has played ball in a gym hasn’t?) and managed not to break it, but, giving Irving the benefit of the doubt, it’s probably just a freak accident that will dissuade him from ever slapping the padding again unless he has to.
And, in fairness to Kyrie, it’s not nearly the dumbest injury involving an NBA player’s hand and a fixture on a wall from the last four months, thanks to Amar’e Stoudemire’s ill-fated run-in with a fire extinguisher case. As long as he’s back for the beginning of training camp, Irving should be the target of a few good-natured jokes and nothing more.
