Las Vegas NBA Summer League Scores And Results: Late Game Heroics For Dion Waiters, Kemba Walker

A brutal game of summer-league basketball between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Bobcats became mildly interesting in the last few moments, with Dion Waiters and Kemba Walker trading baskets in the game's final seconds in a 68-64 Charlotte win.

Walker, who said he “thrived in moments like this” in a post-game interview on NBA TV, apparently makes it when it counts. Unfortunately, every basket counts in the NBA, so his 2/14 shooting line isn’t going to get it done.

Without Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who was held out for precautionary reasons, there were plenty of shots to go around in Charlotte. Walker and Byron Mullens were more than happy to take them, with Mullens going 4-17 from the floor.

However, he did dunk on someone on a drive from the three-point line, so I’m going to go ahead and start calling him “Air Mullens”:

With Kyrie Irving out, Dion Waiters got a chance to run the show for Cleveland, and he displayed a lot of athleticism and creativity with the ball in his hands. He scored 10 points on 3-11 shooting, so there’s still some work to do.

Tyler Zeller, meanwhile, showed why he's one of the more NBA-ready players in this draft, as the 7'0 from UNC scored 14 points on 5-9 shooting.
