Raymond Felton Trade Apparently Finalized, Jeremy Lin Situation Still Unresolved

The deal sending Raymond Felton to New York has apparently been agreed upon, and it will be finalized tomorrow. This means, hopefully, that the Knicks will end the speculation on whether or not they will match an offer sheet to Jeremy Lin. Jason Quick of the Oregonian tweeted the details of the deal:

Quick also tweeted that the Blazers will release Gadzuric. Their plans for the two Greek players - including Papanikolaou who the Knicks drafted in the second round a few weeks ago - are unknown.

It would seem as though this would be the thing that allowed the Knicks to finally tip their hand on whether they would opt to bring Jeremy Lin back, but that isn't totally certain. The weird situation where the Rockets attempted to hand the Knicks an offer sheet for Lin, but couldn't locate Knicks' GM Glen Grunwald, still has ramifications. Jonathan Feigen reports that the Rockets are assuming that the Knicks have until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday night to match the offer sheet, but the Knicks are disputing that they have longer since they didn't officially receive the sheet immediately. The league hasn't issued any ruling on the subject.

Whether or not they will match the offer sheet is unknown, although virtually everybody seems to believe it is now a foregone conclusion they will let Lin walk to Houston. This just days after it was a foregone conclusion that they wouldn’t match, so take that with somewhere between a grain and an entire shakerful of salt.
