NBA Summer League: Where Rumored Courtney Lee Trade Makes Things Awkward

LAS VEGAS -- The NBA Summer League can be called a lot of things, but lack of excitement has yet to be a problem (except for the fourth and final game of the day after six days of basketball, of course). That trend continued on Thursday afternoon shortly after the Boston Celtics decided to execute a sign-and-trade deal for Courtney Lee.

Rumors began circulating about the trade about an hour and a half before the Celtics took the court at the Thomas & Mack Center, which, under normal circumstances, wouldn't be a huge deal. This time, it had some very large implications, however, as the Celtics are reportedly sending E'Twaun Moore, JaJuan Johnson and Sean Williams to the Rockets in the deal -- all of whom had been playing for the Celtics in Vegas.

With the news coming down shortly before their game, and not yet official, it led to the following awkward incident near the locker room tunnel:

That same conversation then happened with Williams and, following their conversations with the team’s head coach, they left the arena. Johnson was nowhere to be found as far as I could tell, so perhaps he had an early heads up.

Anyway, yay, Summer League!
