Net Cords: Suns Undo Mistake, Return Dragic To Desert

The Phoenix Suns have had a very interesting offseason. They pulled the trigger on the "blow it up" bomb and let veterans Steve Nash and Grant Hill hop the Colorado River to play in L.A. They whiffed on O.J. Mayo and Courtney Lee, rolled the dice hard on Michael Beasley and lottery pick Kendall Marshall, and struck Argentine gold in the form of Luis Scola's highly desirable head band (and contract).

But the most interesting move was taking back point guard Goran Dragic in a signing that undid one of the worst basketball trades in the past decade (hyperbole alert). According to Suns site, Bright Side of the Sun, Phoenix president of basketball operations Lon Babby ate crow during the Dragic press conference.

But then Dragic set the NBA on fire again, this time for more than a quarter or a game at a time. He led the Rockets on a late playoff charge - at one point passing up the Suns like they were standing still (which they were) - before a late-season team-wide fade where everyone tailed off around him.

And now the Suns, in need of a #1 point guard, brought Dragic back into the fold.

"It was best for him (to go to Houston)...What's best for us is to bring him back," Babby said, looking at some notes. "There's an old saying. You have to be big enough to admit your mistakes, strong enough to profit from them and strong enough to correct them."

’Net Cords’ features the great work being done by the SB Nation network of NBA team sites.
