Lakers forward Matt Barnes has always been a pretty weird dude, so I guess this story isn’t that surprising. Barnes was arrested Monday night in Los Angeles according to TMZ. As TMZ reports: “Matt was walking in Manhattan Beach around 8:30PM when he was first approached by Manhattan Beach PD -- and when officers ran a check on him they discovered a massive $26,000 unpaid traffic warrant for driving on a suspended license.”
Good LORD.
Report: Matt Barnes Arrested On $26,000 Outstanding Traffic Warrant
TMZ’s sources say he was charged with a misdemeanor traffic violation and a felony for resisting the arresting officer. That felony could easily be reduced at trial, depending on how much he REALLY resisted, but we’ll wait and see. For now let’s all just genuflect for a minute before the magnificent accomplishment of racking up $26,000 in traffic fines. Driving on a suspended license certainly helps add to that sum quickly, but it’s incredible however it happened.
Between Ron Artest’s unpaid parking tickets, Andrew Bynum’s handicap parking fiasco, and now Barnes, the Lakers trio should probably form some sort of gangsta rap collective (a gangsta rap collective that raps about basketball and misdemeanor parking offenses, that is).
Either that, or everyone should start taking a helicopter like Kobe.
