First reported by Phoenix sports talk show host John Gambadoro, the news of Steve Nash heading to the Los Angeles Lakers has now been confirmed by ESPN's Marc Stein.
Steve Nash Trade: ESPN’s Marc Stein Confirms Move to Lakers
Stein says the Suns have agreed to trade Nash to the Lakers for a “package of future picks,” while also confirming an intial report from KTAR stating that the Suns have consented to send their now-former point guard to Southern California so he can be close to his kids.
And because we were all pretty blindsided by this move while celebrating our nation’s independence, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix added this nugget as the Nash-to-LA news spread Wednesday evening:
Something tells me Steve Nash masterly orchestrated this whole thing. Played everyone to get to preferred destination, LA.

Details of the move have yet to be released, nor do we currently know what Nash’s contract will look like, but it’s clear that the Lakers aren’t too keen on the idea of fading from contention in the Western Conference.
