Orlando Pro Summer League Final Score: Magic 92, Nets 88

ORLANDO -- Behind a dominant performance from their front line, the Orlando Magic outlasted the Brooklyn Nets, 92-88, in the opening game of the Orlando Pro Summer League on Monday morning.

Star player: Magic rookie Andrew Nicholson led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while undrafted free-agent point guard Maalik Wayns dished a game-best 10 assists in just 28 minutes for Orlando. Nicholson, the Magic's starting power forward, combined with fellow rookie Kyle O'Quinn and second-year forward Justin Harper to score 55 of Orlando's points. The trio outscored the entire Nets team, 39-32, in the first half.

Honorable mention: Brooklyn got a good performance out of rookie point guard Tyshawn Taylor, who tallied 17 points, six boards, and three assists. Though he played a little out-of-control at times -- he did commit six fouls and four turnovers--he also hit a crucial three-pointer to tie the score at 86 with less than a minute to play.

NBA veteran Al Thornton led the Nets with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting.

Disappointing player: Second-year guard MarShon Brooks did not fare nearly as well. Amid rumors that he might be included in a trade involving Magic center Dwight Howard, the former Providence star missed all 10 of his shots and committed four turnovers.

Dishonorable mention: Kevin Anderson, Orlando’s backup point guard, scored 9 points in 12 minutes, but Brooklyn outscored the Magic by 11 points with him on the floor. Anderson has solid scoring instincts, but struggled to run the Magic’s offense.
