Andrew Bogut could miss some time in the preseason while recovering and improving the strength in his ankle that cost him the end of the 2011-2012 season. Bogut has dealt with various injuries the last few seasons and is hoping to play the entire season with the Golden State Warriors without having to miss significant time.

According to a report from CSN Bay Area, the seven-foot center is taking a cautious approach to his return. Bogut insists his rehabilitation is on track and he hopes to play in the regular-season opener.

“That’s my goal,” Bogut said when asked if he thought he’d be fully back by the Phoenix game. “I definitely want to be ready for training camp, and I think it will be close. But I think I’ll definitely be ready for the first game. So the immediate goal with all of this is to be ready for the first game, whether that means only playing in only half the preseason games or whatever or just being smart.

There is no reason for Bogut, 27, to rush back to the court now with months remaining before the start of the season. He is expected to be a key member of the Golden State Warriors front court next year and they are going to need him healthy in a tough Western Conference.
