Brian Scalabrine Could Join Bulls Coaching Staff, According To Report

Brian Scalabrine is apparently a favorite to join the Chicago Bulls coaching staff as an assistant. The 34-year-old NBA veteran has spent the last two seasons in Chicago as a player on the end of the bench.

Brian Scalabrine became a fan favorite as soon as he was added to the bench of the Chicago Bulls as a player. It seems the Bulls have now decided that they'd like to keep him on the bench next season, too -- but this time as an assistant coach.

The NBA veteran who played a total of 210 minutes in 48 games for the Bulls over the past two seasons is apparently the front office favorite to stay with the team as an assistant coach, according to Aggrey Sam over at CSN Chicago.

One could argue that Scalabrine was essentially an assistant the past two seasons as he mentored the Bulls' youngsters when not playing the part of human victory cigar, but this move -- replacing fellow former player Rick Brunson on the coaching staff -- would make that job official.
