Utah Jazz assistant coach Scott Layden was interviewed for the San Antonio Spurs' assistant general manager position on Monday night, according to a report from Deseret News. The Spurs' assistant GM job became open when the Jazz named Dennis Lindsey as their GM, so hiring Layden would be a front office swap of sorts for the two teams.
Scott Layden Interviews For Spurs’ Assistant GM Opening
The Spurs interviewed Jazz assistant coach Scott Layden for the assistant general manager position on Monday night, according to a report.

Layden has never played in the NBA, and originally began as a talent scout and assistant coach in 1981 with the Jazz when his father, Frank Layden, was named head coach of the team. It is during his time with the team that Scott was considered widely responsible for the team’s selection of John Stockton and Karl Malone in consecutive drafts.
Layden then accepted a general manager position with the Knicks where he served for four seasons before being fired during his fifth with the team. He has since returned to the Jazz as an assistant coach.
