Free agent center Ben Wallace initially indicated after the 2011-2012 season that he was planning on retiring, but according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Wallace has changed his mind and would like to play in the upcoming season.
Ben Wallace Has Reportedly Changed His Mind, Wants To Play Again
Longtime Detroit Pistons center Ben Wallace is reportedly looking to play in the NBA in the 2012-2013 season.
There has been no indication which -- if any -- teams would be interested in Wallace, though Washburn notes that a return to Detroit is unlikely as the team leans on a core of young big men. Wallace has spent the last three seasons with the Pistons, and he averaged 1.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game in 2012.
The 2012 season was a down one for Wallace in nearly every category, but he was healthy the entire time. Veteran big men with proven track records are a scarce commodity in the NBA, and there still may be a market for the 38-year-old.
