The Sacramento Kings expect to begin training camp with 18 players, and one of those players will likely be undrafted rookie Tony Mitchell, a small forward out of Alabama. Mitchell impressed the Kings this summer and is expected to be among four players fighting for the Kings last roster spot. Sacramento has 14 players currently under contract.
Kings Expect Undrafted Alabama Forward Tony Mitchell In Training Camp
Mitchell, who left Alabama after his junior year following a suspension, averaged 11.4 points per game during summer league games with the Kings. Summer-league coach Alex English called Mitchell the team's most consistent player. At Alabama, the athletic 6-foot-6 forward averaged 15.2 points his sophomore year, but only 13.1 during his junior season.
The Kings finished the 2011-12 season with the second worst record in the Western Conference at 22-44 and tied for the fourth worth record in the league. The Kings ended up with the fifth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and selected forward Thomas Robinson.
