Los Angeles Clippers Exercise 2013-2014 Option On Eric Bledsoe

The Clippers exercised their club option for the fourth season of Eric Bledsoe’s contract.

Richard Rowe-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Los Angeles Clippers exercised the fourth-year club option in Eric Bledsoe's contract Thursday, extending the backup point guard's contract through the 2013-14 NBA season.

In two seasons with the Clippers, Bledsoe appeared in 121 games, averaging 5.6 points and 2.9 assists per game. He started 25 games as a rookie, but shifted into a reserve role with the arrival of All-Star Chris Paul last season. He played a key role off the bench for the Clippers during the playoffs, averaging 7.9 points in just over 17 minutes per game.

While the 22 year old will likely play a backup role again this season, he was reportedly highly sought after by other teams in trade talks this summer. With Mo Williams now in Utah and Chauncey Billups still recovering from an injury, Bledsoe could play an increased role for the Clippers this season.
