Rasheed Wallace to sign with Knicks Monday, per report

Knicks fans, you're one step closer to having a lot more 'Sheed in your life. According to a report from the New York Post, the New York Knicks are set to announce the signing of Rasheed Wallace on Monday, during the team's media day, before practice begins on Tuesday.

Apparently, Wallace has already been working out with the Knicks during voluntary sessions this past week, according to the Post’s Marc Berman. Amar’e Stoudemire, whose minutes figure to lessen a tad with ‘Sheed’s addition, seemed optimistic. “I don’t know if he signed yet but he has looked good from the time he has been with us,” Stoudemire told The Post yesterday during his visit to Rikers Island to speak with adolescent prisoners. The Post also reported that Tyson Chandler also approved of the addition.

Berman also writes that head coach Mike Wallace was the reason for Wallace's potential decision to come out of retirement; Woodson was an assistant under Larry Brown when the Detroit Pistons, with Wallace, won the NBA title in 2004. If the move comes to fruition, which at this point looks like a certainty, Wallace will become the fourth-oldest player on the Knicks' roster, behind Jason Kidd, Kurt Thomas and Marcus Camby.
