Magic vs. Clippers results: Orlando ends L.A.‘s home winning streak at 13 games

The Clippers’ record-setting home winning streak is over at 13 games after the Magic pulled off an impressive upset Saturday afternoon.

USA TODAY Sports

Rallying from behind in the final five minutes of the game, the Orlando Magic upset the Los Angeles Clippers, 104-101, at the Staples Center on Saturday afternoon. The game ends the longest home winning streak in Clippers franchise history at 13 games.

Riding a monster performance from Blake Griffin and an assist-filled effort that would make any coach proud, L.A. raced out to 95-87 lead with just five minutes left in the game. The Magic finished the game on a big run, though, outscoring the Clippers, 17-6, over the final five minutes to stun the crowd at Staples.

While his numbers are down across the board this season as he’s seen a decrease in playing time, Griffin came alive on Saturday to fill up the box score. Shooting 15 of 22 from the field, Griffin finished the game with 30 points and seven assists, both season-highs, in addition to grabbing eight rebounds.

Griffin's big numbers were no match for the Magic's wing combination of Arron Afflalo and J.J. Redick, though. With Afflalo putting up 30 points, seven assists and seven rebounds, plus Redick contributing 21 points off the bench, the Clippers often looked lost on defense. Nikola Vucevic also played well for Orlando, recording 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Chris Paul didn't have the big scoring numbers against Orlando, putting up just 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting, but he dished out 16 assists and recorded four steals on the defensive end. He also slowed down Jameer Nelson, holding the Magic guard to 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting to end his streak of games with 20-plus points at four.

With the win, the Magic improve to 13-23 this season, while the Clippers drop to 28-9. The Lakers are now the only team in the league without a win in 2013.
