Carmelo Anthony defends James Dolan recording him during Bulls game

Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony appreciates franchise owner James Dolan’s efforts to protect his star player from possible on-court verbal abuse.

USA TODAY Sports

After discovering that the franchise had used high-tech microphones to record his on-court antics in a recent game, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony defended the actions of club owner James Dolan, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

While some in the media have questioned the Knicks’ decision to deploy audio technicians near the court to record all dialogue between Anthony and Chicago Bulls players during a recent game, the Knicks star doesn’t seem particularly concerned about the situation.

“I don’t care about the microphones. I wasn’t aware of it. I found out on the plane [ride],” Anthony said.

Some players might be uncomfortable with the idea that their owner is listening in on everything they’re saying in the heat of competition, but Anthony isn’t showing it publicly. The forward even went as far as praising Dolan for his actions, saying, “I got an owner who looks out for me. You can’t beat that, an owner that protects his players.”
