It was just before this season that former Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley finalized the team's sale to new owner Robert Pera for $350 million. Halfway through the regular season, Heisley is already admitting that he'd like to be back in the league. Heisley told USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt he'd be interested in buying another NBA franchise.

“I have expressed some interest, maybe, of getting back in the league, depending on the situation. Obviously, that’s important,” Heisley told USA TODAY Sports Thursday.

That doesn't mean he's actively seeking out a seller. The Sacramento Kings are in the middle of a convoluted sale, but Heisley says he isn't interested. From the Midwest, he could maybe find an interested seller in Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl, but Heisley said the Bucks don't appear to be for sale.

The 75-year-old, however, said he enjoys turning things around.

Worth $1.9 billion, according to Forbes, Heisley bought the Grizzlies in 2000 and moved them to Memphis to establish a successful franchise that he finally sold to Pera.

The right situation would have to come around, of course. Heisley’s name is already out there as an interested buyer. The former Grizzlies’ owner confirmed to Zillgitt that he’s told NBA commissioner David Stern of his interest.
