The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed big man Chris Johnson to a 10-day contract, the team announced Saturday morning. He's been playing for the D-League's Santa Cruz Warriors this season, though he did spend time with the T-Wolves during training camp last fall.
Timberwolves sign big man Chris Johnson to 10-day contract
Looking for some depth up front, the T-Wolves have agreed to a 10-day contract with Chris Johnson of the D-League’s Santa Cruz Warriors.

According to Nick Parham of Golden State of Mind, Johnson appeals to NBA teams because of “his ability to find gaps in the defense to find scoring opportunities for his high-release jumper, his ability to run the floor, and the instincts that make him a solid weakside shot blocker.”
At age 27, there probably isn’t a good deal of development left for Johnson, but he could still have the skills to contribute at the NBA level. In 14 games with Santa Cruz this season, Johnson averaged 10.9 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game and 2.1 blocks per game, shooting 53 percent from the field.
During the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, Johnson had stints with the Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers and New Orleans Hornets. Playing a total of 41 games, he averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
