Grizzlies to sign Delonte West, Bill Walker and Sasha Vujacic

In the wake of a trade that got rid of Marreese Speights and Wayne Ellington, the Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly bringing in three veteran players to beef up their bench: Bill Walker, Delonte West, and Sasha Vujacic.

The Grizzlies had been sitting at the league minimum of 13 players before trading away Ellington and Speights, as well as Josh Selby, while bringing in only Jon Leuer, so they were obligated to sign at least two players. It's not clear whether they have plans for Leuer, who had not broken the rotation in Cleveland.

West has spent most of his eight-year career with the Boston Celtics or Cleveland Cavaliers, proving himself as a decent point guard, but a tendency to get into off-court trouble hurt him, and although he started 33 games for the Dallas Mavericks last year, he was eventually suspended and cut with the year still going.

Walker, once considered one of the top high school prospects in the nation, is a strong small forward who had turned himself into a rotation player for the New York Knicks, but was cut midway through last year after a jumper that once saw him peak over 40 percent as a three point shooter disappeared.

Vujacic was a three-point expert and occasionally pesky defender for the Los Angeles Lakers, helping them win championships in 2009 and 2010, but has been playing in Europe for the past three years.

As far as free agent signings go, the Grizzlies could have done worse than these three, all of whom have contributed on winning squads. West played point on LeBron James' Cavs teams, Vujacic had a pair of titles as a key player, and Walker was actually a factor on a Knicks team that made the playoffs. West can back up Mike Conley at point guard, there's no reason to expect Vujacic to be worse at shooting than he was with Los Angeles, and Walker can help with Memphis' strong perimeter defense, although he might have to shoot less.
