The NBA announced on Wednesday that it was fining Oklahoma City Thunder reserve guard Kevin Martin $5,000 for violating the league's anti-flopping policy, according to Darnell Mayberry of the Oklahoman.

The play in question happened on Jan. 20 vs. the Denver Nuggets. The league decided to crack down on cases such as these after multiple incidents over the last several seasons began to affect the outcome of games. Although a flopping offense incurs a warning and subsequent fine, there is currently no system that punishes players for the violation in the same game.
Martin, an 11-year NBA veteran is in hist first season with the Thunder as the team’s sixth man. He’s averaging 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 30 minutes per contest.
In total, 12 players have been warned by the NBA. The 2012-13 season is the first year that the guidelines to counter flopping in the NBA have been implemented. On Monday, Minnesota Timberwolves guard J.J. Barea received a $5,000 fine of his own for the same infraction.
