James White will start for the Knicks at small forward on Thursday when New York meets the Boston Celtics for the first time since a highly publicized incident between stars Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett on Jan. 7. White will make the start in place of Chris Copeland, who finished 2-for-6 with five points in the Knicks loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.

The 30-year-old White spent his college years at Cincinnati and has played 27 games -- starting four -- for the Knicks this season. White is averaging 1.9 points per game this season. He scored a season-high 11 points in a 108-101 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 11.
White will be joined in the starting lineup by Iman Shumpert, Jason Kidd, Anthony and Tyson Chandler when the Knicks try to do what they have not done since 2006: beat the Celtics in Boston. The Celtics won the previous meeting 102-96 in a game most will remember for Garnett's cereal-based insults at Anthony.
