Kevin Durant downplays on-court arguments with Serge Ibaka

Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka have been seen arguing with each other on court, although the NBA’s leading scorer insists he and his teammate are just trying to make each other better.

There might be slight chemistry issues afoot for the Oklahoma City Thunder, as Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka have been seen repeatedly getting into disputes on the court over the team's last few games.

Last year’s Western Conference champions have typically given off the vibe of being one happy family, but as Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman writes, Durant and Ibaka’s arguments have been increasingly frequent, intense, and seem to feature vitriol from both parties. Durant tried to downplay the arguments when asked about it:

“We’re just trying to help each other out. At the end of the day, that’s all we’re trying to do,” Durant said. “It’s times when I mess up and he tells me. It’s times when he messes up and I tell him. We both got to do a better job of responding to each other and just helping each other out.”

However, he acknowledged that perhaps the best thing for both parties might be to let their disagreements slide, adding “sometimes we both got to just calm down and play the game”. The pair have been teammates ever since Ibaka entered the league in 2009.

It's been a bit of a rough patch for the Thunder: they've lost three of five, including a game Sunday to the struggling Los Angeles Lakers, and with the San Antonio Spurs on an eight-game win streak, the Thunder have dropped to second in the Western Conference standings.
