With the loss, L.A. fell to just 5-16 on the road, where they’ve now lost eight straight games.
Kobe Bryant played the role of facilitator once again and scored 17 points, adding nine assists and five rebounds. But it was a play when the Black Mamba went back to his isolation comfort zone, drove the lane and missed a key runner that ultimately sealed the Lakers’ fate:
The Lakers also had no answer for Michael Beasley, who had a game-high 27 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. Turnovers ultimately dug them a hole they couldn’t get out of as they committed 20 giveaways for the game.
Another major concern was the loss of Dwight Howard, who left the game late in the fourth quarter after he re-aggravated his troubled right shoulder.
The road-losing streak is the longest since 2005, when L.A. lost nine straight. Los Angeles moved to 20-26 on the season while Phoenix improved to 16-30 with the win.
