Dwight Howard injury: Lakers star day-to-day with sore shoulder
Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard re-injured his right shoulder on Wednesday in a loss to the Phoenix Suns.
ESPN Los Angeles' Dave McMenamin reported that Los Angeles Lakers trainer Gary Vitti examined Howard on Thursday after the team arrived to Minneapolis to play the Timberwolves. Lakers.com reporter Mike Trudell added that Howard will not see any doctors or be tested any further at this point.
The injury came in the Lakers' 92-86 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. Howard left with seven minutes to play in the game after re-injuring a torn labrum that occurred on Jan. 4. Howard injured the shoulder when the Suns' Shannon Brown swiped at the ball and partially tugged at the center's arm.
On Wednesday, Los Angeles missed their starting center and was outscored 19-8 after Howard left the game with the injury. The loss to the Suns came in the opener of a seven-game road trip.
The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Lakers and was the first defeat since the now-infamous team meeting.
