Tyreke Evans to return for Kings on Monday

Kings guard Tyreke Evans plans to return from a left knee injury on Monday against the Grizzlies.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans plans to return to action on Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, according to the The Sacramento Bee. Evans has been out over three weeks with a left knee injury.

Evans initially injured the knee back on Nov. 27 in a collision with Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrei Kirilenko. Evans played in four games following that, but has not seen the court since playing just 10 minutes in a loss to the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 16.

Sacramento has played pretty well with Evans out of the lineup, going 6-5 in 11 games. The guard knows that he will be a little rusty in his return, but he hopes he can play through it and help with the Kings’ resurgence:

“They’re playing good,” Evans said. “I just have to go in and try and continue the effort.”

After a bit of a rough start, Evans was playing his best ball of the season prior to getting hurt. In five games from Nov. 18-27, Evans averaged 21.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists. If he can quickly regain that form, the Kings should have little problem acclimating him back into the lineup.
