Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol suffered a concussion near the end of Sunday night's game against the Denver Nuggets and will sit out for the time being, Mike Trudell of NBA.com reports. The veteran big man will stay in L.A. while the team embarks on a short road trip to Texas this week.
Pau Gasol injury: Lakers’ big man suffers concussion
The Lakers will be without forward Pau Gasol for a while as the big Spaniard recovers from a recent head injury.

Gasol appeared to suffer the injury after being hit by the inadvertent elbow of Nuggets center Javale McGee in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. Bleeding profusely out of his nose as he left the court, Gasol never returned as the Lakers dropped their third straight game, 112-105.
Before the injured occurred, Gasol was having another middling night for the Lakers, contributing 11 points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks over 34 minutes. His 5 of 9 shooting performance was an improvement from the previous couple games, but he still looked noticeably uncomfortable operating in Mike D’Antoni’s offense.
This week, the Lakers are heading to Texas to play a pair of road games against the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs. Gasol likely won't play in those games considering that he's not traveling, but he could return for a Jan. 11 match-up against the Oklahoma City Thunder in L.A.
