Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended by the NBA for one game after making contact with a referee and failing to cooperate with the ensuing league investigation during Boston's 89-81 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, according to reports. The Celtics will be without Rondo on Monday night when they face the New York Knicks in a highly anticipated meeting at Madison Square Garden.

Rondo made contact with an official in the third quarter vs. Atlanta with the Celtics leading 61-60. Rondo was upset at a charge taken by Josh Smith and chased after referee Rodney Mott after the call was made. Rondo wasn't ejected and the confrontation was perhaps the only blemish in an otherwise stellar effort, as the guard finished with a triple-double -- 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists -- in the victory.

Here’s video of the incident:

It isn’t the first time Rondo has found trouble for bumping an official against the Hawks. In Game 1 of a first round series between the teams in the 2012 playoffs, Rondo was ejected in Atlanta for making contact with an official.
