Knicks fans got some good news this morning, when G Iman Shumpert announced on Twitter that the team's doctors had cleared him to return to practice:

Shumpert, whom New York selected with the No. 17 overall pick in last season’s draft, made an immediate impact as a rookie with his length and athleticism. At 6’6 220 with a 6’10 wingspan, he had the physical tools to be the team’s perimeter stopper, a role that rookies are rarely given in the NBA.
He finished the season averaging 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals on 40/30/80 shooting and was 5th in the Rookie of the Year race. His promising debut ended on a disappointing note, however, when he tore the ACL in his left knee during their first-round loss to the Heat.
Shumpert's minutes will likely come at the expense of Ronnie Brewer, a free-agent signing who has started 33 games this season. No date has yet been set as to when he'll return to game action.
