The New York Knicks may turn to the veteran for some much-needed help in the frontcourt.

Rasheed Wallace's foot injury has lingered, according to sources, and the Knicks have inquired about the availability of the 35-year-old. Martin is said to be open to accepting something as small as a 10-day contract in order to showcase his abilities at his advanced age.
Martin last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2011-12 season in the most diminished role he has seen in his 12 NBA seasons. Four players on New York's roster are former teammates of Martin's -- Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Marcus Camby and Jason Kidd.
The Knicks are coming off a 102-96 home loss to the Boston Celtics Monday night. In that game, it was clear the Knicks were out-muscled inside, as the Celtics scored 40 points in the paint. With no timetable set for Wallace's return, the Knicks are feeling the pressure to make a move in the coming days.
