Needless to say, it’s not the first time the Mavericks’ man in charge has been dissatisfied with the NBA’s officiating.
Cuban is no stranger to fines, either. He has paid an estimated $2 million in sanctions to the league during his 13-year tenure as team owner. Interestingly, the NBA does not announce publicly every time it decides to fine an individual, so it’s within the realm of possibility that he’s received more fines than what have been documented.
The last incident on record where Cuban received a fine was following a game last season against the Oklahoma City Thunder. After saying that the officiating had regressed following the shortened 66-game season, he received a fine of $75,000. In the same game, head coach Rick Carlisle received a $35,000 fine for kicking a ball into the stands.
