NBA schedule 2013: Lakers-Spurs headlines busy Wednesday slate

A battle between the struggling Lakers and the Spurs on ESPN highlights an 11-game schedule in the NBA on Wednesday.

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

Things do not get any easier for the scuffling Los Angeles Lakers, who travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The game is one of 11 on a busy Wednesday in the NBA.

The Lakers sit at 15-19 and have lost four straight games, including a 125-112 loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. Dwight Howard (shoulder), Pau Gasol (concussion) and Jordan Hill (hip) will sit out against San Antonio.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have been rolling along, sitting just behind the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference with a record of 27-10. San Antonio is coming off a loss, falling 95-88 on Monday to the lowly New Orleans Hornets.

Speaking of the Clippers, the top team in the West will be featured in the second ESPN game on Monday night, squaring off against the tanking Dallas Mavericks. Los Angeles has started a new two-game winning streak after losing two in a row, while Dallas has lost three in a row and is 13-22 on the season.

Perhaps the best game of the night will be played out in Oakland, where the Golden State Warriors will be hosting the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are currently a half game ahead of the Warriors in the West.
