Brandon Jennings ‘frustrated’ Bucks didn’t tell him about Scott Skiles’ firing first

While he understands why Scott Skiles got fired, Bucks guard Brandon Jennings isn’t happy with how he learned the news.

While recognizing that such moves are often simply, "part of the business," Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings expressed disappointment recently that he learned of head coach Scott Skiles' firing from the man himself, as Todd Rosniak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes.

Speaking with reporters in the locker room before Tuesday night's game against the Phoenix Suns, Jennings voiced his frustration:

I mean, the team didn’t tell me. Scott told me. I think that’s why I was a little frustrated at first -- just the fact that I had to hear it from my own coach and not from the team. If I’m supposed to be the franchise player, why don’t I hear the news first?

On Tuesday, the Bucks decided to permanently part ways with Skiles, allowing the veteran coach to walk away from a team that’s currently seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with a 17-16 record. Milwaukee has struggled badly on offense all season, though, something that’s plagued Skiles’ teams throughout his coaching career.

Considering that Skiles is the only NBA head coach that Jennings has ever played for, it’s not especially surprising that he’s disappointed with the change. A coach known for being rather intense, Jennings said of his former coach, “I told him one thing I did learn from him was how he approached the game with a seriousness -- just giving your all every night.”
