Russell Westbrook is expected to miss the first 4-6 weeks of the regular season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, the Thunder announced. The surgery was necessary to reduce swelling that was caused by a loose stitch on the same knee he injured during the NBA Playoffs.

Russell Westbrook will miss at least a month of the Thunder’s regular season after undergoing another knee procedure.
Westbrook tore his meniscus on April 25 during Game 2 of the Thunder's first-round series against the Houston Rockets after Patrick Beverly attempted to steal the ball from him while he called a timeout.

The Thunder advanced to the second-round of the playoffs without Westbrook, but were eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies. Now, they will start the season without their star point guard, who averaged 23.2 points and 7.4 assists per game through the 2012-2013 season.
Westbrook has previously never missed a regular season game, but will now miss a month at minimum.
