Brandon Jennings to miss 3 weeks with tooth injury

New Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings is expected to miss the remainder of preseason because of his wisdom teeth.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings will miss at least three weeks because of an impacted wisdom tooth that has caused a hairline fracture of his mandible, reports Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press. Jennings was acquired by the Pistons this summer and, according to the timetable provided, will now likely miss the team's season opener against the Washington Wizards on Oct. 30.

Jennings will also miss the five remaining preseason games and has played in only one exhibition so far. He missed two prior games because of pain involved with his wisdom teeth. He scored 15 points and had three assists in his first and only game with the Pistons since the sign-and-trade.

Will Bynum, Chauncey Billups and rookie Peyton Siva will handle point guard duties in the absence of Jennings. The Pistons are also dealing with an injury to backcourt player Rodney Stuckey, who broke his right thumb tip in a car door, but Stuckey could return by opening night.
