Joakim Noah injury: Groin problem shuts down Bulls big man for preseason

The Chicago Bulls will keep Joakim Noah sidelined until the regular season after playing him in one preseason game following a groin injury.

The Chicago Bulls will hold center Joakim Noah out of the remaining four preseason games as he recovers from a groin strain, according to USA Today's Sean Highkin. Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said the move is considered precautionary.

Noah missed the Bulls' first three preseason games with the groin issue but returned Wednesday for a game against the Detroit Pistons. He played in spurts and a total of 20 minutes to record eight rebounds, three blocks and three assists, and went 0-for-3 from the field to finish with three points.

Precautionary as it might be, the news of Noah’s injury could be concerning considering his history of minor but lingering injuries. Noah was hampered by plantar fasciitis at the end of last season.

Chicago has four preseason games remaining, including a Friday game against the Indiana Pacers. It has the Bucks, Thunder and Nuggets left on the preseason schedule, which ends Oct. 25. The Bulls, who are perfect in the preseason at 4-0, open the regular season against the Miami Heat on Oct. 29.
