Russell Westbrook returns to Thunder practice in limited capacity

Oklahoma City’s spark plug point guard is back on the court and leaving quite the impression.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

According to his initial injury timetable, Russell Westbrook is expected to miss four to six weeks after surgery to repair his meniscus. But apparently he's already back on the practice court. Partially, at least.

Westbrook was back with his teammates during Monday’s practice session, where Oklahoma City had its full complement of players for the first time since training camp began. His involvement was reportedly limited, but his impact was certainly felt.

This from Reggie Jackson:

“Oh, man. Russell today... It’s actually funny. My brother and his brother talk a little before games. His brother told mine that Russell’s probably bouncing better than ever. I had to see it to believe it. One of the dunks (today), he went up and looked like the old Russell, plus some, head at the rim. We’ll be happy when he gets back fully healthy, but it’s good to see him with a smile on his face, being about the team, bouncing back and happy to be back on the court.”

Whether or not he's ahead of schedule remains to be seen, but just that fact that he's out there making that sort of impression is a great sign for the Thunder.
