Thaddeus Young wouldn’t be surprised if Sixers trade him

Thaddeus Young has been with the 76ers his entire career but is prepared if the franchise decides to move on.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Thaddeus Young has been with the Philadelphia 76ers for six seasons but wouldn't be surprised if he is traded during his seventh, according to Christopher A. Vito of the Delaware Daily Times:

“Right now, this is my family and this is my home for the past seven years. If that day comes, it comes,” Young said, following the Sixers’ practice at PCOM. “I can’t worry about it. I can’t stress myself out about it. You pack up. You have a family and have to go to the next city.

Young is the longest-tenured Sixer on a roster that has been stripped down over the past two season. New head coach Brett Brown has gone as far as stating the team has six “NBA players. And after that, who knows.”

Young had one of his most productive seasons last year, returning to the starting lineup after two seasons as a reserve. He averaged a career-high 7.9 rebounds per game along with 14.8 points. He is under contract with the Sixers through the 2014-2015 season, then has an early termination option on a $9.9 million final year with the franchise.

SB Nation’s Mike Prada highlighted Young’s ability to turn “garbage into gold” around the rim as part SB Nation’s NBA season preview and concluded his utility in the paint, along with elite pick-and-roll defense, make him a valuable trade asset for Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie.

If that’s the case, Young is already preparing for the next chapter in his career.
