Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes will miss the first two games of the regular season with a lingering foot injury, according to the Contra Costa Times.

The left foot inflammation that’s plagued the second-year forward for the past three weeks continues to be an issue, but team officials wouldn’t elaborate more on the injury.

Via ContraCostaTimes.com:

“He’s doing things now without pain,” head coach Mark Jackson said. “But we want to get closer to when he was 100 percent healthy - practicing, running with no issues. There are some restrictions right now and, because of that, it makes no sense to throw him out there tomorrow night.”

Klay Thompson will start at shooting guard and is expected to stay in the starting lineup when Barnes is fully healthy. When Barnes returns, the former first-round pick will likely take on a sixth man role, one that he flourished in during his rookie season.

Thompson, Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala, David Lee and Andrew Bogut will make up the starting five when the Warriors take the floor on Wednesday night to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
