Dwyane Wade will sit Wednesday against 76ers

The Miami Heat guard will be held out with a sore knee but it’s not anything more than precautionary.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Coach Erik Spoelstra said that Heat guard Dwyane Wade will sit out Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers with knee soreness but that it's "nothing dramatic."

The decision was not made in advance but decided by the Heat training staff on gameday.

At the same time, it's expected that this won't be the last back-to-back game missed by Wade, who ended last season banged up and hobbled by bone bruises in his knees. Wade played 36 minutes in Tuesday's season opener, a 107-95 win against the Chicago Bulls. He scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds and had three assists.

Miami is a heavy favorite against the 76ers, who have been pegged to finish last in the NBA by the end of the year. With Wade sitting out, it's likely veteran Ray Allen moves into the starting lineup at the shooting guard spot.
