Mark Cuban told The Dallas Morning News that the Dallas Mavericks will not hire a replacement for general manager Gersson Rosas, who announced Tuesday he would be leaving his post after spending just three months on the job.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban won’t be hiring a replacement and alluded to the ill fit between his front office and departed general manager Gersson Rosas.

In fact, Cuban’s comments seemed as if Rosas was only hired with his toe in the water, though in context it’s hard to say whether that was a stance coming from the team or from Rosas himself.
“He kind of had the opportunity to stay 90 days, see what happened,” Cuban said. “He made his choice. I wish him the best. He’s a good guy.”
On Tuesday, Rosas surprisingly announced that he was resigning because the role wasn't the best fit.
And it seemed Rosas' decision to leave stemmed from a lack of control -- perhaps he didn't have much of a say in the Mavericks' decision-making process, as NBA.com's Jeff Caplan tweeted. Cuban seemed to admit that Wednesday, and he went as far as saying Rosas' duties won't be put on president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson. The Mavs owner said the chores were already on Nelson before, adding that Rosas was there to do "complementary things."

“I’m not big on titles,” Cuban said. “(General manager) was the title he wanted. I pretty much let people pick their title.”
The Dallas front office appeared to be catching up to the trend of imparting analytics into its scouting efforts when it hired the up-and-coming Rosas as a general manager this summer. The position didn’t exist with Cuban and Nelson making the final decisions.
Rosas was initially hired to help improve the Mavs’ scouting of college and pro players after serving under the analytics-based front office of the Houston Rockets.
