NBA preseason injuries: Joakim Noah out Monday vs. Grizzlies with groin strain

The Bulls’ All-Star center won’t play Monday, but he should be ready to go for Saturday’s game against Washington.

There are numerous players around the league dealing with a variety of bumps and bruises as the NBA preseason gets underway. Here’s a roundup with the latest updates on some of these injuries.

Joakim Noah: Noah sat out the Chicago Bulls' preseason opener on Saturday with a strained groin, and he will miss Monday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, the injury isn't believed to be all that serious, and the All-Star center is expected to be back in the lineup when the Bulls take on the Washington Wizards in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, according to CSN Chicago's Aggrey Sam.

Wesley Johnson: Johnson left the Los Angeles Lakers' loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday due to a strained left foot. The Lakers forward didn't return to the game and has an MRI planned for Monday, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles. Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said Johnson had a "burning sensation in his foot," and the team is hoping the injury isn't serious.

Xavier Henry: Henry has been dynamite through two preseason games as he tries to make a bid for the Lakers' roster, but he suffered a minor setback on Sunday. McMenamin reports that Henry aggravated a sprain in his right hand, but it's an injury the youngster has been dealing with since the start of camp.

Jordan Farmar: Farmar sat out Sunday's game due to a sore calf, but he plans on playing in the Lakers' next two preseason games this week.

Otto Porter: Porter will likely miss the Washington Wizards' first two preseason games against the Brooklyn Nets and the Bulls, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post. Porter has been dealing with an injured hip flexor for nearly a month and still isn't ready to go.

Trevor Booker: Booker likely won't play in the Wizards' preseason opener on Tuesday due to an injured knee, according to J. Michael of CSN Washington. Booker did become more involved in practice on Sunday, but he doesn't believe that his knee is ready for game action just yet.

Wilson Chandler: Chandler injured his hamstring last week, and he sat out Sunday's win over the Lakers. However, Chandler is healing up and should be back on the practice floor by the end of the week, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post.

Jose Calderon: Calderon is unlikely to play in the Dallas Mavericks' preseason opener on Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News. Calderon has a hamstring injury, and although he has returned to practice, he didn't participate in all of it.

Doron Lamb: Lamb injured his ankle in the Orlando Magic's scrimmage on Sunday night, according to Evan Dunlap of Orlando Pinstriped Post. Magic coach Jacque Vaughn called the injury "a little tweak," but he wasn't exactly sure how serious it was. Lamb previously dealt with a knee injury in the offseason, cutting short his time at Summer League.
