The Brooklyn Nets' experiment begins on Tuesday with their preseason debut on the road against the Washington Wizards. The game is one of nine for the day and one of three broadcast nationally on TV.

The Nets are all-in for a title run this year after mortgaging the future to bring Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to town. Jason Terry and Andrei Kirilenko also joined the squad which will end up being one of the more expensive teams in leagues history. Owner Mikhail Prokhorov is projected to spend approximately $87 million in luxury tax fines.
The Wizards had a much less dramatic offseason, and will have to wait a bit to see what their No. 3 draft pick brings to the table, because Otto Porter will most likely miss the first two preseason games. The main key for the Wizards' improvement hinges on John Wall, who earned a maximum contract extension over the summer.
Wall missed the beginning half of last season with a knee injury, and without him the team struggled mightily. But when Wall returned, the Wizards played close to .500 ball to close out the season.
A few other things to watch for on Tuesday are whether Trey Burke is really the point guard of the Utah Jazz's future and if Andrew Bynum can revitalize his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
