Russell Westbrook has no comment on shove of Nene, subsequent ejection

Asked about his ejection during the Thunder’s overtime win against the Wizards, Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook just didn’t want to talk about it.

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Russell Westbrook earned technicals on separate occasions in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 106-105 overtime win against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, and afterward he had no will to discuss his ejection with reporters. One media member asked Westbrook if he earned the second technical, a shove of Wizards big man Nene, out of frustration. According to DailyThunder.com, the topic was nothing the Thunder point guard wanted to discuss further:

Here’s the transcript word for word: Reporter: “Russ when you pushed Nene, was that just out of frustration or -” Westbrook: “What you talking about?” Reporter: “When you pushed Nene...” Westbrook: “Did we win?” Reporter: “Yeah.” Westbrook: “Alright.” Reporter: “How frustrated were you - ” Westbrook: “That’s it for you [name].”

Another reporter got spurned by asking the question a different way.

First, Westbrook and Nene were caught barking at one another after Nene blocked Westbrook’s shot, and the referees doled out a double-technical seemingly to keep things in order.

But with three minutes left in regulation, Westbrook drove down the lane out of control and picked up a charge by running over Wizards forward Al Harrington. With Harrington at Westbrook’s feet, Nene pushed Westbrook over the top of Harrington. The Thunder guard took exception and as he got up shoved Nene before the officials ejected both players.

Westbrook finished with 13 points and struggled by shooting 4-for-16 from the floor and committing five turnovers. Teammate Kevin Durant rallied the Thunder in overtime and finished with 33 points.
