The New Orleans Pelicans have reached an agreement with forward Josh Childress, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. Details of the deal were not immediately available. The former lottery selection had previously been invited to the Washington Wizards training camp but did not make the final cut.

Childress last played with the Brooklyn Nets but was waived in December. Before joining Brooklyn the Phoenix Suns amnestied the sixth-overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. He has struggled to find a role in the NBA, now joining his fourth NBA team. He also has played overseas, signing a three-year, $20 million deal with Olympiacos Piraeus in 2008. He has not averaged double-digit scoring since leaving the NBA for Europe.

The Pelicans add depth to a wing rotation that has injury concerns. Eric Gordon has previously missed significant time with the team since being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers and Tyreke Evans is dealing with lingering ankle issues early in the season.
Childress has career averages of 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
