Toney Douglas injury: Warriors guard out at least 2 weeks with stress reaction in leg

With Douglas out, Andre Iguodala will get more minutes as the Warriors’ backup point guard.

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors announced Tuesday that backup point guard Toney Douglas will miss at least two weeks with a stress reaction in his left tibia.

Douglas has dealt with some lower leg pain since the preseason. Despite that, he has played relatively well as Stephen Curry's backup, averaging 6.4 points and 1.6 assists while shooting 44.0 percent from three-point range. And in Curry's absence last week against the San Antonio Spurs, Douglas scored 21 points in 28 minutes.

With Douglas out of the lineup for the time being, Warriors coach Mark Jackson will give Andre Iguodala more minutes as the backup point guard, according to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle. Iguodala racked up 11 assists in a blowout win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night and has played really well all season.

Behind Curry and Iguodala, second-year man Kent Bazemore is expected to get minutes ahead of rookie Nemanja Nedovic.
