Derrick Rose injury: Bulls guard ‘unlikely’ to play against Raptors

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose will likely miss Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors with a minor hamstring injury.

Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports

A hamstring issue kept Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose from morning shootaround and he's "unlikely" to play Friday night against the Toronto Raptors, coach Tom Thibodeau told the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson.

Rose injured his hamstring on Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Though he hasn't practiced for Chicago in the last few days, Rose maintained on Thursday that he expected to play at Toronto. Now, the tone coming from Thibodeau makes it seem less likely.

Thibodeau added that he, Rose and Bulls trainer Fred Tedeschi will have a discussion about whether Rose is able to go prior to the game.

Blog a Bull: More on the Bulls

The injury, in general, hurts the Bulls because Rose was searching for footing in the midst of a shaky start to the year. In his return from an ACL tear that kept him out of the 2012-13 season, the point guard has so far averaged 14.7 points and 4.5 assists per game while shooting a lowly 33 percent from the floor.

The 3-3 Bulls make a quick trip to Toronto for the Friday night game and play the white-hot Indiana Pacers on Saturday. Thibodeau said any decision to hold Rose out won't have anything to do with the schedule, nor the opponent.
