Shooting guard Lou Williams is active Friday night for the Atlanta Hawks' game against the Philadelphia 76ers, and he could make his season debut after sitting out nearly half of the 2012-13 season with a torn ACL. The team announced Williams was cleared to play, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports that Williams' minutes will be capped at 16 minutes.
Lou Williams injury: Hawks guard active against 76ers after recovering from torn ACL
The reserve shooting guard will dress Friday after sitting out 10 months to recover from a torn ACL, but his minutes will be capped.

The restrictions on Williams' minutes could be precautionary as the shooting guard gets back into game shape. On Wednesday, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said only that there wasn't a timeline for Williams' return but that the guard had been participating in five-on-five games in practice.
Williams averaged 14.1 points and 3.6 assists for Atlanta in his first season with the team last year. He played in 39 games before tearing his ACL.
So far this season, the 4-4 Hawks haven't gotten much bench production behind starting shooting guard Kyle Korver, and Williams could fill that void immediately. Though he's a career 42 percent shooter, Williams could fit in nicely with a team that is second in the NBA in assists per game and as a result, is fifth in the league by connecting on 46.6 percent of its shot attempts.
