The NBA has suspended Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers for one game without pay after he threw an elbow to Dirk Nowitzki's head during Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Chalmers will miss the Heat’s game against the Bobcats Saturday night.


Chalmers will miss the Heat's game against Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday. He is having the best start to a season in his career and he would have been tasked with stopping the Bobcats' Kemba Walker. Norris Cole is expected to start in his place.
On the play that resulted in Chalmers' suspension, Samuel Dalembert set a pick on Chalmers and they appeared to get tangled up. Chalmers says he was trying get his arm free when he hit Dirk square in the face. You can see from the video that he immediately looked to the referee and plead not to be called for a flagrant foul. He was ejected. Chalmers tweeted about the play after the fine was announced:
Never in my career been a dirty player. It's clear that my arm was being held and that's wat caused me to hit dirk. Enough is enough man
